The Huawei Mate X5 was quietly launched in China on Friday. Although the company hasn’t revealed the specific processor information, the smartphone features a 7.85-inch LTPO OLED primary display and a 6.4-inch OLED LTPO secondary screen. It is available in five different colors and offers two storage options. The pricing details of the device are yet to be revealed. It succeeds the Huawei Mate X3, which was released in China in March with an octa-core Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

Huawei Mate X5 sports a 6.4-inch OLED LTPO cover display that offers 2504 x 1080 pixels resolution with an aspect ratio of 20.9:9. It has an impressive touch sampling rate of up to 300Hz and features toughened Kunlun glass.

On the inside, the device flaunts a 7.85-inch foldable OLED LTPO display, offering a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels and an 8:7.1 aspect ratio. This internal screen also boasts a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz. Both the displays support 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, P3 color gamut, and 1440Hz high-frequency dimming capability.

Information about the chipset powering the Huawei Mate X5 is not available at the moment. However, it seems to be using the Kirin 9000, which is also found in the Mate 60 series. The Huawei Mate X5 ships with Harmony OS 4.0 like the recently launched Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro models. The device’s compatibility with 5G connectivity remains uncertain. It has an impressive 16 GB RAM and offers a massive storage of 512 GB.

The Huawei Mate X5 boasts a triple rear camera that houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens equipped that incorporates optical image stabilization (OIS) technology for enhanced image stability. Additionally, the front-facing camera is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor.

The Huawei Mate X5 comes equipped with a 5,060mAh battery that supports fast 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Additionally, it offers several other features, including dual SIM support, and an NM card slot for expandable storage.

Connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and dual-frequency GPS for enhanced accuracy, connectivity Includes NFC and 2D facial for seamless transactions. Face recognition to unlock, a USB-C port with USB 3.1 Gen 1 support, two-way satellite connectivity, and an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

In terms of dimensions, the device measures 156.9 x 72.4 x 11.08mm when folded and turns into 156.9 x 141.5 x 5.3mm when unfolded. Despite its innovative design, it maintains a manageable weight of around 245 grams.

Huawei Mate X5 Price, Sale Date

The newly unveiled phone is offered in Feather Sand White, Feather Sand Black, Feather Sand Gold, Aoyama Dai (Green), and Phantom Purple colour options. The price of the Huawei Mate X5 is yet to be confirmed. It is expected to go on sale on September 15th. At this time, there is no information about the Mate X5’s global availability.

Both the 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB variants are open for pre-booking with a deposit of CNY 1,000 ( $136 ). The Huawei Mate X5 is also offered in 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB storage options for its Collector’s Edition.
